The Mesilla Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) held its 2nd round of community meetings for the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) update, in October and November. MPO Staff gave a presentation on the progress of the MTP update.
Residents of Las Cruces and central Doña Ana County attended the meetings and provided their input on the MTP update and on transportation issues in the region. The public meetings were held at Munson Center, Radium Springs Community Center, Sage Cafe, Town of Mesilla, Downtown Las Cruces, and Vado/Del Cerro.
MPO staff will continue to work on the Metropolitan Transportation Plan update through February 2020. One final round of community meetings will be held in the months of March and April 2020, to present the final copy draft of the MTP update.
The MTP is the core document produced by the MPO. It is a long-range transportation plan that guides planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of the transportation network in the MPO area. Federal law requires the MTP have a minimum 20-year planning horizon and be updated every five years.
The Mesilla Valley MPO is the multi-jurisdictional planning agency responsible for transportation planning for the Las Cruces urbanized area in central Doña Ana County.
